Edible Wild Summer

Ohhh, the distractions of summer! We've been busy in the outdoors the past few weeks. The weeuns and I have been taking every chance possible to go blackberry and plum picking! I can't believe the plethora of each we've managed to get for 'FREE' from the wild. I've made Blackberry Crumble and Blackberry-Apple Cake, Blackberry Streusel Muffins, and Plum Tortes....and tonight we make jam! Also are busy getting ready for our big move to Goring-by-Sea. Pick up the keys next Saturday, then it's hectic frantic moving and house cleaning.

Hope everyone else is having a fantastic summer! Ours has been brilliant thus far. (knock on wood!)

Breaking Point!

Been out and about having some VERY COOL experiences this week. Took my mum-in-law to the Goring seaside on Sunday so she could see our 'soon to be' new home. Spent the entire day on the beach and then playing in the woodlands near the beach. The kiddo's brought home a few pieces of 'while chalk' that is commonly found on these beaches (Google the 'White Cliffs of Dover'). They've been drawing all sorts of interesting designs with these white chalk-rocks on our back garden patio pavement.
Had a home educator Mum and her lovely daughter pay a visit on Tuesday.
Picked wild blackberries on Saturday AND again last night in the cool evening. (been baking Blackberry Crumble AND a Blackberry Apple Cake...yum!).
HOWEVER, I gotta say, I'm reaching a bit of a breaking point tonight. Because I've also been watching the kiddos full-time this week WHILST also working my full-time IBM job. I would have been fine with this, had I been prepared and organized. But I sort of just 'jumped in' and said 'sure' in the midst of all this moving, so that my husband could spend time painting my mum-in-laws house exterior. It is Wednesday evening, and I've been completely okay until now, but the children are hollering and screaming at 10PM!I've had absolutely NO energy at all to go read them a story or bother with the oodles of irritation. I've shut the door to let them figure it out. I'm exhausted!
Make no mistake....my goal is to be with the weeuns fulltime without this day-job I have. BUT, to juggle both at same time is beyond what my sanity can handle....AAACK!
Thankfully, it's just one week!
