Welcome to Day 1 of my Blog. Apologies if I seem a bit distracted at the moment, but this pink blossom tree keeps waving at me from across the street. It's Spring here in the UK (finally!) after a long drawn-out winter, and today I'm stuck indoors with the 'work-at-home' corporate job; whilst hubby is out-and-about with our children. I don't complain though, because a) I have a job!, and b) these 'silent' moments when I get to think are appreciated. I do have, and appreciate, many moments during my 'day-job' to spend with my children, who are at an age when they need their Mommy & Daddy. Now that it appears we are 'settling' down a bit from a wild & wacky roller coaster ride after evacuating hurricane Katrina, I'm able to start 'blogging'. Here's a few things I'm likely to write about from my own experiences:
- If you are home educating, or especially following the 'autonomous learning/unschooling' route, then read on! We've been 'doing it' for 7 or so years now, and our 16 year old starts college this September. After just passing his first GCSE with flying colours in ITC. (woo-hoo!). He's happy, so we're happy.
- If you have hearing impaired children or children with Asperger's, read on! Or if you are a step parent, then you can relate to some of my journies.
- If you've ever evacuated from the biggest natural disaster in history (aka: Hurricane Katrina) whilst 8+ mo's preggers!......well, that's me too.
- Battle with SAD
- If you've lost both parents and know that sorrow? I can relate.
- Had your house burn down on Christmas eve and lost everything at age 10? me again!
- Grew up on a huge farm growing your own vegetables, milking your own cow, churning your own butter, collecting eggs from your own chickens, gathering wood to light the oven, using an outhouse to potty, and spending your days playing with your favourite toy which was your backyard? well, grab a cuppa and share some stories with me.
- Survived the LA Riots. (Was living right in the midst when that chaos broke out)
Well, that's some of me. I look forward to discovering more of me!
Congrats on the new blog....I'll be following you!
