Home Ed Matchbox Swap

I recently launched a 'Home Ed Matchbox Swap' group; whereby, I post new themes twice/monthly, and other Home Ed families sign up if they want to 'Swap Matchboxes' they decorate based on the chosen theme.  I LOVE little treasures, and boxes, and decorating things, as do my children, so seemed like the perfect creative learning venue for us.  And a lot cheaper than doing the Shoebox Swap we were involved in!

We have a lot of members joined up to the group now, and started our first Matchbox Swap on 1 October, which we all recently mailed/received.  The theme was 'Periodic Table', which was probably the most difficult theme I could have posted up, but, in the end, turned out to be a fascinating learning experience.

Here's a snapshot of the Periodic Table box that Indigo received in exchange for her box.  This box is actually bigger than the matchbox sizes we're exchanging, but WOW, it is fantastic. Much better than my photo captures, as it also included a rather large faux diamond and another golden rock that Indigo swept away instantly into her 'secret treasures' stash her brother and sister aren't allowed near.  We absolutely love the little mini atomic sculptures made from clay and matchsticks.

Here's a link to the Flicker account  ''HE Matchbox Swap-Periodic Table'' where some boxes are posted. Duplicate photo's of a few below (I'm at an age where I repeat myself :)

Now we are on to creating our next theme which is.......Halloween!!!
