Hubby introduced our children to a cute and tasty breakfast dish this morning, called 'Eggs & Soldiers'. Which was much more exciting than my original 'Soft Boiled Eggs & Toast' I originally served them.
Zephyr woke up this morning, put on his England t-shirt, and said with his English accent 'Mummy, can I have a boiled egg and toast?'
Being the accommodating mother I am, (and being excited that the little ones culinary tastes advance from wanting just cornflakes), I set to it.
Zephyr just so happens to have a Thomas the Tank Engine egg cup he found for 10p at a charity shop once, that went rather nicely with this Thomas tea mug. It just gets more and more exciting for me.
After I snapped some photo's of Zephyr and his fancier-than-usual breakfast, hubby comes in asking (in his English accent) 'Are you avin' Eggs-n-Soldiers?'
Upon discovering we had no idea what 'Eggs-n-Soldiers' is, hubby turned Zephyr's fancy breakfast in to a fun breakfast.........by simply cutting the toast in to strips.
The toast strips are the 'Soldiers', and you dip those in the soft boiled eggs. Turning them in to talking imaginary 'real' soldiers the whole time, of course.
Tummy now full, he's playing with his Thomas the Tank Engine train and tracks.
Cypress just woke up excited when I asked if she wanted 'Eggs-n-Soldiers' for breakfast, so gotta go get the pot boiling. (Indigo is OCD and will remain on plain cornflakes probably for the rest of her life)
Next up, wait until you see the 'Homemade Malt Loaf' I baked last night. YUM! we'll never eat store bought malt loaf again
