On April 1st I heard my 5 yr old daughter shouting "Apricot! Apricot!" throughout the day, which was followed immediately by happy giggly squeals. It took me awhile (my old rusty brain tries to keep up!), but I finally figured out that she was playing 'April Fools' jokes on her brothers and sister. Apparently, earlier that day, when I had tried to explain the whole 'play a prank' idea, she heard me say 'Apricot Day' versus 'April Fools Day'. She also apparently did not hear that this is a one-day event, because now weeks later I still hear her squealing 'Apricot! Apricot!' after an intended prank, that is then followed with a giggling chorus of sibling laughter.
Which leads me to conclude with the thought that each of us, each day, should find ways of celebrating 'Apricot Day' ;-)
