Organising the Jumble

Still have not caught the mouse; however, have met up with it a few times. This critter does not seem even remotely scared of us humans. He's (hoping it's a he) waltzed in to the dining room just as confident as the rest of us who live here, giving me a look that sort of says 'oh, don't mind me, I've just come to check out what little morsels of crumbs your kiddo's have dropped beneath the table for me tonight'

I must vaccuum more often.

But mouse and my lack of domestic skills aside, it's been an interesting past week. One that's left me with a head full of goals I try to organise.
The preface, before I publish my goals, is that I finally have come to realise that I'm a creature controlled by the seasons. I never really had an issue with this before, because I've always lived in 'moderate' temperatures that had no seasons. We spent most winters in tank tops and flip flops. Turning on the air-conditioner at Christmas time just to get the 'effect' of 'chilly winter' like all the storybooks.
I now live in a country that has four very distinct seasons. We've been here for a bit over two years now. The first was spent unpacking and also feeling a bit like you're on holiday in a new country. The second, I believe, was the calm after the storm.....where you're not sure what just happened, and you look around at all the debris not knowing where to start in rebuilding. This third year, a sense of calm is occurring, and I'm emerging out of my shell to peek at the world again. I'm also coming out of the winter slump, feeling a bit invigorated by all the new growth of Spring everywhere. England truly is a beautiful country.

I hope by jotting my goals down I have half-a-chance of sticking to them. So, here goes.
  1. Become more active and proactive in our home ed group.
I was really outgoing in our group back in Louisiana, before Katrina, and I miss the connection. My challenge is feeling a bit out of place sometimes as an American. I get a bit shy now.
But, I am determined to start my 'Shoebox Show-n-Tell' activity, and possibly a monthly themed co-op.
  2. Get my head out of Facebook and the wine-bottle - and start engaging the children in activities they will enjoy.
The weeuns are back in Saturday dance-class, after pestering me for months now. I'm unfamiliar with 'dance' and all that, but it's what THEY want to do, so I'm committed.
They start 'Woodcraft Folk' tonight, which sounds incredibly fun and nature based.
Derek is already fully engaged in activities - no worries there.
  3. Sell our land in Asheville and finally buy a house here (looking at Worthing area - not too far from where we are now, but at the seaside for fresh air).
our family of 6 has been cramped up in this 2bdrm 1 toilet teeny-weeny house for tooo long!
  4. Should probably be numero uno, BUT, get my butt in shape, eat healthy, and stick with the morning yoga. I'm freakin' 40 now, no more excuses
  5. Write, write and write some more. I'm a writer, by-golly, and I need to write.
  6. Put more effort into my Refrigerator Reference Magnets business. I was on a roll last year, but by December it had become Too Much with all the details.
I'm an artist, I created the idea, but now running the business calls attention. My husband has put a LOT of effort into cleaning up our website now, so time for me to do my thing and Sell Some Magnets!
    Okay, let the day begin!

  2. Well, I'm happy to report that at least I've had my head out of a wine bottle for two nights now. It's currently enjoying a cup of rosehip tea instead ;-)
Now to go tackle the rest of that list.
    Thanks!

  3. I just started the book "The Artist's Way."
If you haven't done it, you might give it a try. It's supposed to help unblock you.

  4. Hi Martha! I have started the book 'The Artist's Way' many many moons ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, just never finished it. (got distracted, as usual). I'll have to dig it out again and start over. If not for Spring, then possibly I can take it into the Winter cave to keep me company this next winter! - Thanks!!!
