Hickory Dickory Dock

Hickory Dickory Dock
The Mouse ran up the clock

and then it decided to stick around for awhile (sigh)

There's a lot of excitement in our teeny-weeny house at the moment. We are not quite sure how this little mouse wound up in our house, but it certainly has made quite the cozy home SOMEWHERE indoors (we're not sure exactly where). I had the non-pleasure of meeting him/her one night around the midnight hour (as I shamelessly played on Facebook). It had scurried out to investigate new surroundings, paying no attention to me and my (MAC) laptop. I have to admit, he/she is a cute little creature!
I know there are these things called 'mouse traps'; however, I've convinced my husband to try the more 'humane' way of ridding our house of this cute little mouse. We decided to use our humane rat trap we still have from our days living out in the Honey Island Swamp (a rat had crawled into hubby's car and decided to nest). To catch cute little mouse, our teenager, Derek, had advice to put peanut butter on the ceiling of the trap, and then jab some raisins into the peanut butter. Apparently, this is a mouse's favourite food. The trap is designed as such that once the animal steps into the middle of the cage, the animals weight presses the trigger down that immediately close the outer doors.
Well, the mouse did enjoy a feast of raisins that evening whilst we slept, but obviously is too light-weight to trigger the trap. The raisins were gone, but no mouse to be found.
Tonight, my big plan is to arrange a peanut butter and raisin feast by the back door, which will be left wide-open. I will then sit in dark silence (other than probably playing on Facebook), and once cute little mouse makes his/her way to the feast, I shall simply shut the door. Our uninvited guest will be once again free to roam the great outdoors. (though hubby insists he/she will simply find a way back in). This will either work, or perhaps bring more uninvited guests into our home through the back door. Wish me luck!
