I LOVE weekends. Two days of zero work to interrupt my 'Mommy' time with the children. I work from home, so I do get lots of kiddo-time, but work takes precedence Monday thru Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, it's all about Family time with zero work. (well, most weekends at least).
This weekend we experienced our first fierce winds at the seaside. What a wild and wacky experience to see the ocean ripping with aggressive waves and white foam. The winds so gusty they blew us backwards into the safe haven of the canopied forest.
Other than a jaunt to a new gymnastics class this morning (Saturday) in Lancing, and the gusty seaside experience, we hung out at home. Playing games, popping popcorn, sipping hot cocoa and doing crafty things. I'm posting pics of some cutie little Owls we sewed out of felt and buttons today. It took AGES to complete, because I let each weeun do their own sewing, but I had to sit there and 'guide' a bit. (as well as thread needles). Their favourite part was stuffing the owls (my son insists on calling a Bat)...before closing them up with the last stitches. Oh! and after birds were sewn, I handed kiddo's some empty toilet paper tubes, some brown and also green construction paper, scissors and tape. There was creative silence for the next hour whilst kiddo's created little 'homes' for their owls (and Mommy cooked dinner!). I saw a few little feet skiddle past me into the craft room, and noticed hands carrying back the empty cereal boxes we save. Cypress decided to make an entire fancy mansion/castle for her owl. Indigo made a cute little tree home.
In the end, I was being asked MANY questions about Owls and their habitats, and eating habits, and so on and so on.......of which I had no answers, (despite we have been to nature centres and even held owls)..... so our new home educating adventure is to learn all about Owls.
