Folcmoot

Hubby surprised us today with a spontaneous trip to Folcmoot over in Wiltshire.  Unfortunately, 'spontaneous' wound up being a 3 hour drive, but we eventually got there.  The festival was small and quaint, celebrating English culture. The entire event wound up being light on the pocketbook (other than that petrol bill), because the rides and games wound up costing pennies versus pounds. Indigo, Cypress and Zephyr enjoyed Duck Pond Lucky Dip games, Tea Cup rides, Bouncy Castles (no time limit!), and other exciting activities.  My fave was the Birds of Prey event.  Indigo and Cypress were brave enough to participate and can't stop talking about it. Having an owl swoop down and fly over you just a centimeter from your nose is quite an experience. Hubby and our teen, Derek, got a go with Archery, and yours truly made off with some Honey Fudge made by a local honey farm selling their wares at the event (nom, nom, nom).  All of my kiddly-winks proclaimed 'this was the best day of my life!' on the way home, before they fell fast asleep on the long journey home.  (I'm off to go find that fudge now :)

Humans riding in Tea Cups.........makes perfect sense!

Boat Swings (I asked hubby if he could build this in our back garden)

Indigo and Cypress listening intently

They then met the star of the show (the owl, not the lady)
no one got hurt!
click photo for larger version - it's pretty neato this owl
Thank goodness the bird was toilet-trained
Hubby got a go
Derek got a go with Amber the Falcon
