The Fairy Village

Wild Chestnuts!
We took a break today from indoor projects and head out to the forest to forage for wild nuts. We scored!

Yummy Beechnuts
A few hours later, we came home with not only a tasty harvest of chestnuts and a snack of beechnuts, but Cypress and Zephyr came home with a new costume of scary beechnut claws, and Indigo some more twigs for her back garden Fairy Village.

The Fairy village started out as just a few houses after one of their BFF's spent the day with us yesterday. Since weather was warm enough, we took their BFF on a woodlands walk to gather 'supplies' (feathers, acorns, twigs, rocks, leaves) and then spent the day building Fairy Houses.  I've reassured my children that the Fairies of Goring-by-Sea are thoroughly enjoying their little village at night.  Here's a few photo's of the growing village (just in case you're a Fairy passing by and need a place to stay :)

I love the fence of bird feathers in the back

in case you're wondering, the trail of acorns is leading to a
Squirrel Trap that Indigo built (she's sort of moving on from
Fairy Houses and on to Squirrel Traps)
